Greetings, all, and welcome to my twenty-ninth

FABULOUS FRIDAY FEATURE

This week's feature is super-short because I really wanted to showcase some super-awesome pieces this week!

If you've got someone you think should be featured in next Friday's Feature, I'd love it if you would send me a note with a link to the deviation in question and I'll take a peek ;) I'd also love to hear about other features, particularly themed ones. I'll list those in the bottom section to help spread the word! The same goes for contests or news articles!

Please favorite this journal and pass it on! And if you liked this feature, be sure to check out the one from last week: azizriandaoxrak.deviantart.com…

I am ALWAYS seeking donations and nominations for my pay-it-forward project! So far I've been able to donate FIVE premium memberships, and I'm only a few hundred points away from being able to give away another one! I want to be able to donate premium memberships to deserving members, so please check out my journal for info on sending nominations:
Pay-It-Forward Project:new:Update: Unfortunately, due to a number of factors, I will not be continuing this project. However, I strongly encourage you all to pay it forward yourselves!

Van GoghSlip into
the first vestige of
morning, the
blush of a summer's
day already aglow
along you—
your silhouette
glistens, an aureole
of molten gold
as sunflowers puddle
at your feet.
will you ever learn to love yourselfshe was dead
before she hit the ground
a cell
frazzled & 60 percent water
her friends
or whatever you call them
‘seedy backwater
girl
brimming on the bus & never
wants to
haven’t  you ever seen clouds before?’
she threw a handful of stones
pinched
sinking like balloons
a hungry ghost
tracing the outline
of a breaking surface

papertaleshow many nights have you devoured by halflight,
a trickling of words
supped like good linguini
snaking up below your blankets and ringing in your belly,
your head is in a book,
a book is in your head
flickering inside you,
stories and fable-yarns,
        sage sorrel vase-lipped faces
cast in the ivory
between veins,
and i can see it in your eyes,
inhaling after that long time somewhere else,
     it's been raining for days
and only now do you notice
how everything is tasting
of silt and crustaceans
Late Monet in a Boy's Bedroomyou have mourned for a childhood spent
siphoning color's touch from men with your eyes
unshut, begging at the heels of lovers who
wanted to know your shadows. you accepted them
into your bed, reminding yourself of such moments when
you lay back: powerless, aroused. his hands knew you
in wide spectrums they shouldn't have, but you lusted
and lust for another whose brush is careless, whose teeth
will paint your neck without praying to consequence,
who will have you jealously, selfishly: who will let you
call him by that paternal name that rots your liver, that
makes your tongue soft for affectations. he was a liar,
but a charming, intelligent man: an artist, blending his
half-blind writer.

Prose enthusiasts and experts wanted!Back in March, we hosted a rather successful projecteducate week on poetry forms. Off the back of this, we didn’t want to leave prose writers out and with this in mind; we have actually booked another PE Week! This time the theme is “Story Planning”.

From the week beginning June 10th, we will be would like to invite members of the community to come and write informative/education articles to contribute to this week.
You can write articles:
- About specific elements of story planning (with featured examples)
- "How to" guides.
- Interviews with dA writers who focus on story writing
- Art features
- Famous story writers
- Workshops/ Prompts/ contests based on story planning
We are not looking at short form prose at the moment, so we do not require articles on that, nor about publishing. This is about the elements that you need to plan and create a story more than the full finished product.

If you are interested in writing an article, please

Results of the Winter Alliance Contest!  Hello my wonderfully patient Allies! It's time to announce the winners of our Winter Alliance Contest:la:
:iconlit-visual-alliance:
What is the Alliance, you ask?
The Alliance is a project group intended to encourage visual and literary artists to work together. I've felt for some time that the dA Literature Community can at times be somewhat insular - to its detriment. We in the Lit Community are also sometimes prone to griping about the lack of exposure our work receives when compared to that of visual artists. So in the spirit of ^thorns brilliant&
Announcing the winners!Happy end of NaPoWriMo! I think we're all a little sad but also relieved that it's over. It's definitely been a hectic month for everyone, especially for those who were also doing other projects such as Script Frenzy (how do you do that?! :omg:), and simply because we do have real lives too. So without further ado, I present to you the lovely people who completed the NaPo challenge (and posted it before the deadline, that is)!

Louder Than dA Bomb POETRY SLAM + Comment Below! If you cannot participate for the awesome prize pool, see the bottom of this journal for a possible reward.
A few days ago Elocutionists received a huge helping of prize donations for an unnamed contest the likes and scale of which have never been seen on deviantART before. What is it, you ask?
It's a slam. A poetry slam. And it's Louder Than dA Bomb.
A poetry slam is a "no holds barred" spoken word competition. Poets are encouraged to alliterate, rhyme, shout, whisper, zing, compliment, parody, satirize, improvise, recite, quote, play with words and even sing if the opportunity arises.
For the longest time the Elocutionists team have wanted to hear the roaring voice of literature, and this month we don't want to hear just any spoken word for a chance at prizes— NO! We want to listen to a writer's passion, emotion, and drive to keep being who they are; their inspiration to keep writing as they will and we want to hear you que

Transgressions #3: Truth'Man is not what he thinks he is;
he is what he hides.'
― André Malraux
Everyone lies, from little omissions of fact to harmless white lies to full-on deception. We lie to strangers,
friends and family, ourselves. Sometimes we don't even know we're doing it. These lies become secrets
which eventually become a sort of truth all on their own. We may not even be aware there is a secret
there, but it affects us, shapes us, determines events and outcomes far down the line from when the
initial thing came into being.
'[M]ost people would never know them, but they know there are spaces,
gaps where the answers should be, where someone should have sat,
where someone used to be. A name that is never uttered,
or uttered just once and never again.
We all have our secrets.'
Literature DD Roundup April 2013Greetings everyone!
I can’t quite believe how long ago April Fools day was- many of you liked our anti-speel DDs, and we thank you all for your sense of humour! It’s very hard to arrange those things without knowing how people will react, so we’re happy you approved!
Well we survived Napowrimo, Screnzy and any other April challenge out there! A hoarde of DD suggestions came as a result of those, which we hope that with a bit of polishing will unravel some new pieces!
Here is the roundup for April:
